Student Spotlight: Max

Student Name

Max Erwine

Genre

Blues / Jazz

Max Erwine is a guitarist that came to us after years of struggling to find his way on the instrument.

Like many of our students he felt a lack of confidence in both his knowledge and his playing.

He struggled to find the motivation to practice and no matter what book or online course he took, he lacked the initiative he was hoping for.

We all dream of being able to pick up the guitar and relate to it in a way that allows us to play music freely and express ourselves.

Max made significant strides towards this dream through dedicated action and commitment to the process that we’ve laid out.

He‘s now in a place where he picks up his guitar and understands that he has the capability and the knowledge to solve problems and create his own learning goals outside of our curriculum and working with his mentor.

Whether it’s transcribing a song from his favorite musicians or writing his own lines to accompany a 2 - 5 - 1 progression he now understands the relationship of notes to a chord and the harmonic options available to him in any given musical scenario.

He’s able to move forward with confidence on his musical journey and that is a huge win.

Great work Max!

She had grown tired of always relying on the same "fall back" positions to the guitar and was looking for a clear, structured approach to deepen her understanding of the instrument.
